Picks » Baltimore Ravens at New England Patriots ATS Picks AFC Championship Game 2012
AFC Championship weekend will feature two teams that are very familiar with each other. Two years ago the Ravens went to Foxboro and beat the Patriots 33-14. Don't think that Brady or Belichik need much motivation but that loss is sure to still be close to their thoughts. These two teams are polar opposites on how they get to the same winning ways and it will be great to see the Raven defense square off against the Pats offense. Oddsmakers have sure not had a problem with who they think would win as currently New England is heavy Favorite (NE -9 and 50 as Total).
The Ravens have tried to convince themselves that their offense can win them games, but after 17 games we are still not convinced. For Baltimore to win they will have to control the high powered offense of New England and find a way to control the clock with a heavy run based offense. Ray Rice has been great all year long but he faces Belichik who has a way with shutting down the opponents biggest strength. Ravens defense have once again led this team to this point but they have their biggest test this weekend. The linebackers and safeties verse the great duo of tight ends for the Pats is where this game will be won or lost. Last key for Ravens is Joe Flaco at QB as he has been so up and down for his carreer. Flaco must be able to convert on third downs as keepign this Patriots offense on the sideline is of utmost importance.
Patriots once again look like a Super Bowl champion and only a sub par defense can keep them out of the big game. Tom Brady and the Patriots offense have taken it to a new level this year and with the best duo of Tight Ends in the game they have become nearly unstoppable. The defense on the other hand has really fallen apart, most notably the pass defense. Ranking near the bottom of every defense category makes you wonder what Belichik can do to manipulate another win here. Lucky for New England fans this defense is coming off best performance of season and they face a sub par offense.

Ravens +9: really think New England wins a close one but the defense of Baltimore keeps them in this one. Nearly double digits is hard to cover with a team as good as Baltimore. Rule of thumb usually is never bet against Belichik and Brady but even they can't cover up this terrible New England defense.
